What To Include Into Your Fitness Plan
There is a lot of information on the Internet about what to include in your next fitness plan. Not just the Internet either. Workout books, videotapes, and even gurus on TV all claim to have the magic piece of the puzzle to help you lose weight and stay healthy.
The fact of the matter is that there are many things that go into helping you get in shape. Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet to pull the trigger on. If you are serious about losing weight, eating healthy, and being in shape, then you need to make sure that you incorporate all of the below into your plan.
1. Cardio
Cardio is perhaps one of the most important things you can do at all for yourself. Not only does it help you burn fat and boost your metabolism, but it also helps your blood circulation which in turn keeps your heart healthier, longer. It is recommended that you get at least 20 minutes of cardio exercise at least three times a week. More often is better.
2. Strength Training
Lifting weights and doing other kinds of weight training in conjunction with cardio is also a great way to get fit. Building muscle helps boost your metabolism and burn fat. It also helps you look great by keeping you toned. However, don't make the mistake of replacing cardio and strength training. It is also important that you not do it every day. Three times a week is usually sufficient. You need to give your body rest days in order to recover.
3. Diet
Your exercise wont mean anything if you don't eat properly as well. Cut out saturated fat, sugar, and highly processed foods. Concentrating on eating as fresh and lean as possible. This means more fruits, vegetables and lean protein.
4. Sleep Well
It is recommended that the average adult get at least eight hours of sleep at night. Sleeping well improves your mood, ability to function, and energy levels so you can work out more. Yet it does more than that. While you sleep, your body will repair itself after all that working out. This is when you begin to build actual muscle.
5. Get A Friend Or Join A Class
If you have problems sticking to a fitness plan by yourself, then it may behoove you to join a class or work out with a friend. This will keep you accountable to your workouts. It can also make them more fun and engaging, which in turn makes you more likely to do them. People who work out with friends or in classes tend to have a higher success rate. When coming up with your new plan to lose weight and change your life for the better, be sure to keep the above in mind. As sad as it is to say, there is no one thing that you can do to change your whole life. Exercising, eating a healthy diet, and getting plenty of sleep are the best ways. They also require a lot of diligence. Good luck on your road to better health!
